The Toyota LiteAce is a line of cab over motor vehicles produced by the Japanese manufacturer Toyota. Launched in 1970, the Liteace is a small to medium-sized van and truck which was most commonly exported to Asia, Australia and Africa. In Japan, the LiteAce was sold at Toyota Auto Store dealerships, giving Sprinter buyers an alternative to load carrying duties the Sprinter wasn't suited. Its twin the Toyota TownAce was sold at Toyota Corolla Store locations. The "Ace" moniker refers to the Toyota ToyoAce medium-duty truck sold starting in 1956. The LiteAce followed the introduction of the Toyota HiAce in 1967, but on a smaller scale in keeping with Japanese Regulations concerning exterior dimensions and engine displacement, so that buyers wouldn't be liable for additional taxes for a larger vehicle.
