The Royal Bermuda Regiment Coast Guard is a dedicated maritime unit protecting Bermuda’s territorial waters up to 12 nautical miles offshore. Formally established under the Defence(Coast Guard Unit) Amendment Act 2018, the unit has full enforcement authority and plays a critical role in safeguarding Bermuda’s marine environment, economy, and safety.

24/7 Maritime Protection & Rescue
Operating around the clock, the Coast Guard:
• Provides search and rescue (SAR) support.
• Enforces maritime law and safety regulations.
• Supports agencies including the Bermuda Police Service, Customs & Immigration, Marine & Ports, and the Maritime Operations Centre.
Core Duties
The Coast Guard is empowered to:
• Enforce territorial waters, immigration, quarantine, and fisheries laws.
• Respond to maritime search and rescue responsibilities under international law.
• Enforce customs and revenue regulations.
• Prevent unauthorized boarding of vessels and remove unauthorized persons if required.
Operational Dive Team
The RBR Coast Guard includes the Operational Divers, a sub-unit trained for underwater tasks such as:
• Sub-surface search and recovery
• Evidence recovery
• Maritime support operations
