Young Tourist Beats the Bermuda Drum

A young musician on vacation on the island paid a dream visit to the Royal Bermuda Regiment’s Warwick Camp to see the Band and Corps of Drums tune up for a performance at Harbour Nights tonight/tomorrow (WEDS). Little James Grassick, aged 9, who plays for the Peebles Burgh Silver Band in Peebles in the Scottish Borders, was invited to see the soldiers practice after a chance meeting in Hamilton with a serving soldier.

Junior Leaders Head to UK

A group of 12 Royal Bermuda Regiment Junior Leaders at the weekend flew to Britain for two weeks of training and adventure.  The teenage soldiers will join the Combined Cadet Force from the Royal Hospital School Suffolk, England, for the two-week exercise in Lincolnshire, designed to test their skills and provide adventure training. 

RBR Funeral Honours For Larry Burchall

The Royal Bermuda Regiment was yesterday out in force for the funeral of former Regimental Sergeant Major and Captain Larry Burchall.  Mr Burchall, who went on to have a successful career in the media and as a social commentator, was laid to rest with full military honours.

Princess Royal Meets the RBR

The Princess Royal yesterday met soldiers from the Royal Bermuda Regiment as she toured the America’s Cup village.  The Royal visit came as the RBR’s biggest-ever deployment drew to a close with the final races of the competition.

RBR Go to Sea in Security Role

Troops from the Royal Bermuda Regiment are playing a vital role in maritime security at the America’s Cup.  Soldiers from Boat Troop, many of them special constables, have joined forces with the Bermuda Police Service’s Marine Unit to patrol the race course and maintain harbour security. 

AC Security Team Win Praise

Soldiers from the Royal Bermuda Regiment are at the heart of a massive security operation designed to keep the America’s Cup event safe.  The Regiment has joined forces with event organisers and island emergency services in a joint effort to safeguard the competition.

RBR Soldiers Front and Centre at AC35

Specially trained soldiers from the Royal Bermuda Regiment were out in force for the opening day of the America’s Cup on land and on the water.  Troops performed security checks on visitors at Cross Island and patrolled the waters around the venue with the Bermuda Police Service marine police.  The Regiment also provided divers for sub-sea security work around Cross Island and rescue swimmers attached to the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service.
